"I saw him first at entrance ceremony. Slightly curly chestnut hair, brown eyes, slightly tanned skin, and above all that lovable smile. Ah, if only a day would come when I could stare at him freely... How much I wish for that."
Go For It, Nakamura! đối với mình tràn ngập sự cute, rất hài hước và đầy giải trí ( ´͈ ◡ `͈ ).

With this 80's art style, it feels like reading a shounen-ai by Takahashi Rumiko, the mangaka of Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2. Such nostalgic feeling, because they are my favorites. I think I might reread Ranma 1/2 later, I miss Ranma and Akane and Ryoga's antics. Lol.

Ever felt a manga so precious? Ever felt a manga so dang relatable when it comes to crushes and fan(girl/boy)ing??? Nakamura is me if I happen to meet Kibum, Jiseong and Jackson Wang. Like I am so committed from the very beginning (yes, committed even though I love them all without any kind of bias 😭). I love the characters so much. Even the third wheelers. I want to go to Japan just to meet the author/artist. And tell they're amazing! Nakamura shouldn't be so RELATABLE 😭😆

I'm rooting for them a tope. Por cierto, fantástico el estilo retro de la mangaka, si habéis leído/visto Ranma 1/2 no puede no sonaros el tipo de dibujo.

Y'all this book was cute af The style is very much classic 90s shoujo romcom manga (think: Marmalade Boy, Kodomo no Omocha, etc), straight down to the cover design (that color combination! that bubble font!) except it's about this anxious friendless nerd boy who just really wants to be friends with the cute boy in his class (and... more than friends). It's light, funny, and charming. My heart went dokidoki. Recommended! Give me book 2! Bye

[Rating: 4 out of 5 stars] Jan 28, 2023 I can't believe there's a huge amount of wholesomeness and adorableness in such a short and quick read! I'm literally grinning the whole time! This is not deep plot-wise. But if you're just looking for something fun and fluffy to read in one seating, I think this is for you! This is a story of Nakamura Okuto, a 16-year old gay teenage boy who has no friends, usually introverted and timid, trying to get close and confess to his long time crush Hirose Aiki. He's so awkward and clumsy, especially when it comes to Hirose but that's exactly why he's so adorable! Look at him blushing!!! Like I said, you won't get much content in terms of plot, this is just 11 chapters of him overcoming himself and getting close to his crush. This volume ended with them being real friends, which was definitely a step up for someone as timid as Nakamura. I'm actually glad that the story didn't end up with them being together. It was actually a befitting ending considering the amount of time they hang out together. Maybe in the sequel, it was time for Nakamura to step up more, but this volume is short but satisfying personally. And the art is absolutely pretty! It can be quite dramatic when it needs to. I recommend this to those who want a short, cute and fun BL manga without drama and angst. [ 2019-2020 READING SPREADSHEETS ]

Has kind of a Komi Can’t Communicate vibe so if you’re a fan of that you’ll enjoy this too. Unfortunately I found it disappointing because it’s not a complete BL story and there’s only this one volume. If there was a second volume I’d feel different about it, but the ending felt like a major letdown because it seemed like a midpoint rather than an ending.

*Reread 7/8/2022* I'm really excited to dive into second book! *Original Review 7/24/2020*
Nakamura is such a cutie!! He's adorable when he talks about octopi and his relationship with Hirose is so wholesome. He has a crush on Hirose, but his goal through this volume is to become his friend. It's SO CUTE. This is such a quick, cute and funny read. It's also nice to read from a prespective of a character who already knows he's gay. I've been prefering those books a lot more lately like the stressful realizing feelings can be fun, but it's nice for that part to already be done.
It says "See you next time!" at the end so I'm hoping the author does get to write more of Nakamura and Hirose. This was really really cute.

I needed something quick and cute today to treat myself after doing chores and this was a great pick. The retro art-style is extremely charming and the plot is simple but adorable. My only issue is that there isn’t a lot of progress in the romance between characters.

Nakamura is so cute, I love him so much he's such a softie. He's mind is really full of Hirose-kun hahaha I love their both attitude and Nakamura is just shy you can't judge him only by looking at him! I'm so happy that they're finally friends and Nakamura can be perverted sometimes ✨💗

An extremely silly and cute high school rom-com. Shy Nakamura has a massive crush on his classmate Hirose. Despite the fact that they see each other every day, Nakamura has never introduced himself. What will it take to get him to finally speak up and try to befriend his crush??

Me? Cheating my way out of my Goodreads Reading Goal by reading this short fluffy manga? Haha! I don't know what you're talking about~ Go For It, Nakamura! is a quick fun read about a young man named Nakamura who's had a crush on a guy in the same class as him named Hirose. The manga basically revolves around Nakamura's struggles on trying to befriend this young man and maybe try to confess his real feelings for him before it's too late. Basically, just like everyone else, I absolutely adored its art. It gave me a nostalgic feel to it–like I was teleported back to 80s or 90s–which is very delighting touch if I say so myself. This straight-to-the-point and adorable tale succeeded on making me aww so loud in the middle of the night–if it's not enough proof that this one is cute then I don't know what is. I'm glad that I finished my Goodreads Reading Challenge this year with Go For It, Nakamura! It felt like this was the adorable little bow on top of my bookpile that I finished this year and I couldn't express through words how it's deserving of that.

3.5 stars. It was cute, at times funny, but for the most part it was repetitive. We know Nakamura is awkward, we know he has no friends, so stop saying it, kid! Plus, the narrative starts out one way but the. Changes mid-story for the first few chapters, then the initial narrative is dropped altogether in the last part of the book. Odd. The artwork is great, reminiscent of Rumiko Takahashi - but that goes without saying. :) I would love to see more and see Nakamura’s story progress, especially since we do see some growth in the last chapter, but alas. If it ends there, I am fine.

Nakamura is anxious and shy about talking to his high school crush, another boy named Hirose. The story isn't anything new, what with the school cultural festival, cross dressing for a school play, and a class trip thrown in to help cover your manga trope bingo card, but it is well done and easy to sink into. And I have the sequel on hand from the library for tomorrow.

Ganbare! Nakamura-kun! (Go for It, Nakamura!) is a delightful coming-of-age story that will make you smile and go aww... Our hero, Nakamura Okuto, is a 16-year-old student hopelessly in love with his sweet and popular classmate Hirose Aiki. Nakamura is also, for a lack of a better definition, an adorable idiot - he's pathologically shy and incredibly clumsy, uses BL manga as reliable manuals to break the ice and conquer the heart of the boy of his dreams and his best friend is a wayward pet octopus named Icchan. Nakamura's adventures are a sequence of miscalculated steps (quite literally, at least in a couple of episodes), surreal situations, constant daydreaming and sweet moments of hilarious introspection. Will Nakamura succeed in conquering Hirose's heart? Syundei finishes the story on a note of hopeful suspension that is definitely worth discovering.

This was such a cute wholesome little story about a first crush and the main characters desire to be friends with that crush. I found it weirdly relatable as the main character loves octopus, has trouble making friends even though they try, and also is never sure when they’ve actually acquired that friendship. It was also pretty funny, there was one chapter that I legit laughed out loud over. Finding really cute BL manga that doesn’t fall into harmful story tropes is pretty rare, so I consider this a win.

May 21, 2019One of the best things I got from this is not only that Nakamura is into tentacle stuff, but also that Hirose's special talent is apparently 'imitating a machine gun', which is the most relevant piece of information about a character I never knew I needed until now. I really hope they come out with another volume about this story, Nakamura is adorable and so is Hirose. I could honestly read a whole series about these two and their friends and exploits at school. I feel like I should clarify that while Nakamura is gay, he doesn't end up in a relationship with Hirose, they actually just become friends. It's super adorable anyhow, and it's great having a main character who's gay in manga and, while having a crush on another character, isn't at all sexualised and feels pretty grounded and down to Earth in how he feels. All very realistic!

03.2019: Nakamura has a crush on Hirose and wants to be friends with him but is too shy and too clumsy to speak to Hirose properly which leads to some funny encounters which are mostly told in short episodes. I'm hoping for a second volume but, honestly, even if there isn't going to be one this was a great story. (EDIT 2022: There's going to be a second volume!) I love the art style.
