As with other patches released after 3.0, patch 3.55a contains content that can only be accessed by registering FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward to your service account. To distinguish between adjustments that are and are not affected by the registration of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward, the following notations will be used throughout the patch notes:

Class/Job-specific Quests
Anima weapon quests employ a system which will require players to proceed using the same class or job with which they accepted the quest.
Certain anima weapon quests have been adjusted as follows:
- The number of Allagan tomestones of esoterics or Allagan tomestones of lore required to exchange for umbrite has been reduced from 300 to 150.
The following items can now be exchanged for crystal sand:

Players can now build better relations with the people of Eorzea through custom deliveries.
By completing custom deliveries, players can receive gil, blue and red crafters' scrips, or blue and red gatherers' scrips.
Clients will come to trust you more and more as you complete deliveries and increase their satisfaction level. Upon reaching a new satisfaction level, you will have the opportunity to learn more about them and earn greater rewards from deliveries.
* Patch 3.55a will introduce Zhloe Aliapoh.

Undertaking Custom Deliveries
1. Confirming items sought for delivery
Speak with clients seeking custom deliveries to confirm which items they require that week.
* Up to six deliveries can be made in a given week. Eligibility for deliveries will be reset every Thursday at 12:00 a.m. (PST).
The location of NPCs accepting custom deliveries can also be confirmed on the map and mini-map.
2. Preparing items for delivery
The items sought by clients fall into three categories: crafted items, gathered items, and fish.
- Crafted Items
The Custom Deliveries category has been added to the Crafting Log. Five of these items are subject to requests for delivery. The components required to create these items can be purchased from the Scrap Salvager NPC in Idyllshire (X:5.9 Y:7.3).
* Recipes can be confirmed while viewing the Custom Deliveries list by selecting the requested item and accessing the subcommand menu.
- Gathered Items
Five items have been added to the Gathering Log, which may be requested for delivery.
* The location of these items can be confirmed while viewing the Custom Deliveries list by selecting the requested item and accessing the subcommand menu.
- Fish
Five new fish have been added to the fishing log, which may be requested for delivery.
* The locations of these fish can be confirmed while viewing the Custom Deliveries list by selecting the requested item and viewing its item description.
3. Completing deliveries
Upon delivering the items requested, you will receive a reward of gil, as well as blue and red crafters' or gatherers' scrips. The client's satisfaction level will also increase. Items with a higher collectability will earn greater rewards.
4. Raising satisfaction levels
With each successful delivery, clients will come to trust you more, leading to assignments of greater importance. Satisfaction levels are displayed as a gauge atop the Custom Deliveries list. When the gauge is filled to the maximum, the client's satisfaction level will increase. Players will receive rewards upon increasing in satisfaction level, and have the opportunity to learn more about their clients.
The Wondrous Tails objective "The Feast (8 on 8 - Matched Party)" has been changed to "The Feast/The Fold."
* Any duty associated with the Feast or the Fold will now count toward completion of this objective.
Battle System
The Proto Ultima battle, previously only playable at the 2016-17 FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Festivals, has been added.
The effects of the following actions in PvP have been adjusted.
Pugilist/Monk

A new map has been added to the Feast.
Maps will be selected at random upon entering a match. However, players can choose a map when engaging in custom matches.
Following the addition of a new map, players can no longer queue for the Feast together with other duties via the Duty Finder.

Sudden Death has been added to the Feast matches.
Should the eight-minute time limit expire with both teams holding the same number of medals, the match will enter a two-minute "Sudden Death" period. The first team to obtain a medal will be victorious. If both teams still hold the same number of medals at the end of Sudden Death, the match will result in a draw.
Players will be afflicted by the "Marked for Culling" status effect during Sudden Death as follows:

- The locations, spawn frequency, and number of supply boxes have been adjusted.

The Feast is now in pre-season.
* As the new map still needs to be adjusted and balanced, there will be no rewards during pre-season.
* Pre-season is planned to last for 3-4 weeks. The official end date of pre-season and the start of season 4 will be announced at a later date on the Lodestone.
Players will be matched irrespective of Grand Company requirements when registering for Frontline while in a party.
* Players will take part in Frontline as freelancers, regardless of whether or not they have checked the Frontline Freelancer option.
Drop rates for the Sophic lanner whistle and Demonic lanner whistle have been increased.
Players can now exchange for the following items from Bertana in Idyllshire (X:5.8 Y:5.2):

For example, players wishing to reobtain the Face of the Golden Wolf must first gain the Echoes of the Golden Wolf achievement.
* Players that have the corresponding achievements are able to obtain both male and female gear, regardless of what gear they have already obtained.

- An issue wherein the dyeable areas for the “Replica Allagan Rod” and the “Replica Allagan Scepter” were incorrect.
- An issue wherein certain motions were incorrect when equipped with a “Zurvanite Bow” or “Hive Bow.”
- An issue wherein Party Finder information could not be acquired under certain conditions.
- An issue wherein the Party Finder “Recruitment Criteria” window would display the wrong color of job role icons.
- An issue wherein pressing the spacebar during a cutscene would cause the text auto-advance toggle command to take precedence over the confirm command for users that bound the "Confirm" key to the spacebar.
